Matthias, MD MSc, has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, where he held senior roles in private and publicly traded companies, in Clinical Research and Product Development before moving over to Medical Affairs. He started his career in Grünenthal in 2001 as a Clinical Project Scientist and then held a number of roles with increasing responsibility and was appointed Senior Vice President Medical and Governmental Affairs Europe, Australia, and North America in 2011. In this role, he was responsible for setting the company-wide medical affairs strategy, as well as establishing and leading all aspects of Medical Governance. He then joined Teva in 2015 as Global Therapeutic Area Head for CNS, before being promoted in 2018 to his most recent role of Vice President, Global Medical Affairs for the innovative and generics pharma business.

Matthias completed medical school, his residency and fellowship in the Department of Neurology at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, with a clinical and research focus on stroke and its prevention, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis. He specialized in Pharmaceutical Medicine and received his Master of Science at the University of Surrey, UK.
